How to Set Up a Twitter Account

  1. Get Started
    Go to www.twitter.com and click the Sign Up Now button

  2. Create Your Account
    The Sign Up Now page looks something like the picture below. Enter your information in the form and click on Create My Account.

  3. Invite Followers
    Once your account is created you will be invited to find friends through your email accounts. Enter your email address and passwords and twitter will scan your contact list for potential followers. If you are not comfortable supplying this information, click continue and move to the next step.

  4. Create Your Profile
    Click settings in the upper right corner of the screen to view the setup screens.

  5. Personalize Your Account
    Click account to update information or add a bio. Click pictures the browse to upload a photo of yourself or your class from your computer.

  6. Start Networking
    You're all set! Now you're ready to network. Click find people to follow others or to invite other to follow you You can search by name, location, content of the posts, or whatever else you'd like. You may also want to take a look at twitter lists to find people similar to you.
