How to Set Up a Facebook Account

  1. Get Started
    Go to www.facebook.com

    Enter your first name, last name, email, password, etc in the boxes indicated on the right side of the page under "Sign Up". Click on the green "sign up" button. *Note: Your email address and password will be used to log onto Facebook in the future.

  2. Email Confirmation
    Sign out using the "Logout" button in the upper right hand corner of the page, and check your email. An email message from Facebook, like the one below, will come through requesting that you click on the link to activate your account. Click on the link within your email.

    You will be taken to a screen that says "You must log in to view this page". Enter the email address and password you used in the second step to log on. A box may pop up to let you know that you have confirmed your account.

  3. Suggested Friends
    You are now a Facebook user. Time to add your friends! A list of people you may know will come up. Click "Add Friend" for anyone you know and want to include as your Facebook friends. The more, the merrier! When you're finished, continue on to the next step.

  4. Find Friends
    You will be taken to "Step 2" where you can find friends who are currently in your address book. Just enter your email address and password. This step is optional but recommended.

  5. Create Your Profile
    Enter your high school, college, and company information. It is helpful to include all this information if you're comfortable doing so, as it will allow folks you know to find you. You will be brought to a page suggesting people you may know based on what you entered. Click on the pictures of anyone you know.

  6. Add Your Photo
    This will bring you to a page to Set Your Profile picture. If you have a picture on your computer, click on "Upload a Picture", search your files, and double click on your picture file to upload. If you have a webcam and would like to take a picture, click on take a photo and follow the steps with your webcam.

  7. Congratulations!
    You've now set up the basics for your Facebook profile! You can now edit your profile by clicking "Edit My Profile" under your picture (left side). You can also share information with your friends by clicking "Wall" on the top of your profile page, then typing into the box that says "What's on your mind" and clicking "Share".
  8. Create a Business Page for Your Kids' MusicRound Center
    1. You must have a Facebook profile for yourself to do this. Log onto your Facebook page.
    2. Click on "Applications" in the bottom left corner of your screen.
    3. Click "Groups".
    4. At the top of the page, click the grey "Create a Group" button.
    5. Enter the requested information and click "Create Group".
    6. All information can be edited in the same way you edit your profile.
