Music Teacher Requirements
At Kids' MusicRound it is our job to provide valuable early childhood music education to children at all stages of development - from infants and toddlers to preschool and beyond. To carry out our mission, we have developed quality assurance standards to ensure consistency and integrity of teaching within our music program. Because the majority of our licensees are also music instructors, these standards apply to both groups of individuals except as noted.
General Requirements
Individuals holding teaching jobs with KMR must be personally engaging, friendly and neat in appearance. They should feel comfortable working with young children in all stages of development - from infants and toddlers to preschoolers and elementary age. They should have exceptional energy, good communication skills and affable with children in a class setting.
Music teachers and licensees must ascribe to the KMR philosophy of children and early childhood music education. It is important that they are able to work independently and willing to go the extra mile to provide a positive experience for the families in the program.
Music and Teaching Job Experience
Music teachers must have strong vocal skills or play a musical instrument, preferably both. Individuals who are strong vocally and enthusiastic may be able to lead children in class without playing an instrument.
Prior teaching job experience is not required, but previous work with music and movement, mommy and me style programs, children and early childhood development is helpful. Music and movement curriculum, teaching materials and job training provided by KMR will provide teachers with the skill set required to successfully run their center.
Financial Requirements
Licensees should have sufficient financial capacity to effectively operate and market their centers. Our start-up costs are low, but financial planning is required to successfully operate your music business. Strong children's music centers benefit all KMR licensees by building a vibrant network of music programs.
Teacher Training
Individuals must successfully complete the three-day teacher training. Our training program covers early childhood development and music education for infants, toddlers and young children. The program also provides some job experience through practical teaching exercises.
