What is "Licensing a Business"?
When you license a business you are obtaining permission to use a company's name, logo and/or business process for a fee. Licensing a KMR business allows you to use the curriculum and materials we develop to teach your music classes. In the long run this saves you time and money you would otherwise spend on marketing, research and trial-and-error.
People often confuse licensing with franchising. Like starting a franchise, when you license a business you enter into a contract with a parent company. When you franchise a business the initial investment and ongoing charges are typically much higher than when you license.
Unlike a franchise, licensees are given autonomy. As a licensee you are not sold specifically how to run your own business, but you are provided with business guidelines to get you started. You are expected to establish your own identity in your marketplace.
How to License a KMR Business
Step 1 - Review Music Teacher & Licensee Requirements
In order to ensure the quality of our music program, Kids' MusicRound has developed a series of personal and financial requirements for licensees and music instructors. These requirements will help you determine if you are a suitable candidate for our program.
Licensee application acceptance is not automatic.
Step 2 - Complete Business License Application
To begin the formal process of becoming a licensee, please fill out our licensee application and pay the initial low-cost start-up fee. We will notify you of receipt within 48 hours. The complete review process may take up to two-three weeks.
Upon application approval, you will be required to sign and submit a license agreement along with the modest fee. There will be other initial low-cost, start-up expenses associated with the opening of your business. You will receive our detailed start-up guide to assist you in planning the opening of your center.
Step 3 - Attend Music Teacher Training Workshop
Successful completion of the full music teachers training workshop is required of all teachers before opening a center. The teacher training program covers the how-tos of licensing a music business and provides the general skill sets needed to teach a children's music class based on Kids' MusicRound curriculum.
